We have an exciting new opportunity for a full time Assistant Product Developer to join our friendly Product Development team in our Port Melbourne office! We are looking for a motivated and energetic team player who will support the business in the development of seasonal ranges taking products from initial concepts through to approved pre-production samples that are production ready.

 

Reporting to the Product Development Manager, the main responsibilities include:

 

  • Ensure quality standards and Brand attributes are maintained and timelines achieved in order to meet key stakeholder expectations
  • Ensure samples are completed and checked before production commences
  • Ensure samples are received and dispatched according to timeline and to agreed quality
  • Develop and maintain standards within development process and policies
  • Support the Product Development Manager in preparation of the seasonal range sample spec sheets
  • Communicate with and monitor sourcing/manufacturers to ensure samples are produced at required quality standards and in accordance with the critical path timelines
  • Participate in sample reviews and fittings, document issues, and follow up communications
  • Identify quality issues and recommend solutions to the Product Development Manager
  • Create sample and production specifications

 

About the successful candidate:

 

  • Be tertiary qualified with a Design degree (or similar)
  • Previous experience working in a similar role
  • Proficient Microsoft Office suite: Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or In-Design knowledge is preferred
  • Ability to develop and maintain standards within development process and policies.
  • Able to provide recommendations regarding sales analysis, trends, design and development of product to the Product Development Manager
  • A great eye and passion for design, and an up to date knowledge of current trends
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and work in a fast paced & energetic environment
  • Basic design principles & implementation skills
